Microsoft ends free upgrade from Windows 7 to 11

Microsoft has announced that it will no longer offer its Windows 7/8 upgrade to Windows 10 and 11. Microsoft ended the offer officially in July 2016 but users could still upgrade to Windows 11 by using their old Windows 7/8 keys. This loophole has been closed. Users can no longer upgrade to Windows 11 with Windows 7/8 keys, as reported by our friends at PCMag.

Microsoft announced that Windows 10 users can upgrade for free to Windows 11 if they have it. Microsoft announced new features at the recent Microsoft Surface event including passwordless login for Windows 11 as well as updated features for Copilot (Microsoft’s AI tool). The tech giant announced last month that it would be ending the text-editing application WordPad after thirty years.
